Responsive Email Design

This project was conducted under Designity in a contracted role for Oracle and in collaboration with Creative Director Pooyan Alizadeh.

For this project, the task was to create various email templates for mainly internal communications sent from HR, which included Events, Newsletters, General Leadership Communication, HR Holiday and New Employee Notifications.

Role

Tools

Timeline

01

Goal

Create email template designs for Oracle’s internal communication.

Initial goals were to create simple to use drag-and-drop Bananatags as easy templates shown in this example:

Previous Designs

Existing Oracle designs prior to Designity
Designity designs created by CD Pooyan Alizadeh

Designs used as templates to create additional email formats.

04

LoFi Module Templates

Modules were created based on the use cases the users may have for internal emails.

Modules included 1's - 4's with a mix of images, videos, text, headers, subheadings, quotes, action buttons, and style dividers.

05

Updated Goals

Create email templates that are ready-to-use with minimal changes in text, icons, and images.

06

LoFi Email Templates

Low-fi templates were created while keeping in mind of the previous designs and following guidelines.

I ended up creating two templates for New Employee Announcement: one for internal uses and another for external.

Use Case for Internal:
Announcing new hires to network within Oracle includes:

  • General announcements

  • Profiles of new hires

  • General button for external links

Use Case for External:
Emails sent to new hires includes:

  • Onboarding link/announcement

  • Statement from hiring team/manager

  • Onboarding video

Brand Guidelines

To develop wireframes, I looked for inspiration outside of the email design guidelines to better understand Oracle's aesthetics and standards including but not limited to presentation guidelines, header guidelines, and more.

Reflection

Compared to the tasks I had while working on projects at Designity, such as Scalefast, there were more explicit design rules and guidelines I had to follow when creating these email templates.

Not only was I able to develop my technical skills in Adobe XD and Illustrator, but also I was able to improve my communication skills in understanding how to better relay my ideas and be able to provide reasons on why I made certain decisions.

With this project I:

  • Offered new designs with robust guidelines

  • Responsiveness in web to mobile designs

Managing Success:

  • Oracle's continued collaboration with Designity
